Meet Dr. Woganee Filate, MD
Physician, Author, Speaker
Dr. Woganee Filate is a sleep medicine physician, women’s health advocate, author, and speaker helping women understand how sleep changes during midlife and what they can do about it.
After more than a decade in sleep medicine, Dr. Filate noticed that increasing numbers of women in their forties and fifties were struggling with sleep, even when many of their tests appeared normal. Her search for better answers revealed an important gap between the science of hormones and sleep and the care women were receiving. That discovery inspired her book, her advocacy, and the creation of Lume Women + Health.
Dr. Filate completed her medical school and training at the University of Toronto. She is a licensed respirologist and sleep medicine physician. She is also a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. Dr. Filate is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
“Better sleep. Better health. Better life.”
My Philosophy
Women deserve healthcare that considers the whole person, including the profound influence of hormones on sleep, physical health, and emotional well-being. Dr. Filate combines medical science with compassionate, practical guidance so women feel heard, understand what is happening in their bodies, and feel empowered to take an active role in their health.
Core Values
Validating
You’re not imagining what you’re experiencing, and you’re not alone.
Hopeful
Poor sleep may be common during midlife, but it doesn’t have to become your new normal.
Credible
Every recommendation is grounded in medical evidence, clinical experience, and the realities of women’s lives.
Practical
The goal is not perfection. It is to provide realistic strategies women can use in everyday life.
Lume Women + Health is a physician-led clinic in Toronto providing proactive, preventive, and sex-specific care for women across the adult lifespan. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to medicine, Lume recognizes that women’s biology, hormones, life stage, and individual health goals should shape the care they receive.
